After a bluez, bluez-utils and bluez-lib upgrade today 30 June, bluetooth either connects with no sound, or Blueman throws the error
Bluez daemon is not running, blueman-manager cannot continue.
This probably means that there were no bluetooth adapters detected
or Bluetooth daemon was not started.I have tried the usual obvious fixes suggested on the forums, to no avail. When I run
lsmod | grep btusb I get
bluetooth 937984 52 btrtl, btmtk, btintel, btbcm, bnep, btusb, rfcommso the adapter is detected.
This occurs on both of my Dell machines, one is a XPS13 9360, the other XPS15 9570. The upgrade on the 9360 included a pacnew of /etc/bluetooth/main.conf. Bluetooth did not work with either or the "old" main.conf or the pacnew version.
Curiously, the upgrade on the 9570, which I ran a few hours after the one on my 9360, did not include a pacnew file. In any case, the diffs in the main.conf and the pacnew are just comments, no code (as far as I can tell) except for Autoenable=True in my config, which I changed from False when I installed bluez originally.
Is this a bug or can I fix the problem myself?
I downgraded the bluez package and bluetooth is working now. I have added it to my pacman ignore list but my question is can this break my system on subsequent upgrades?
