Monitor falls asleep ~30 seconds in, despite settings otherwise GNOME

Recently my monitor began falling asleep very randomly. At first I thought that something is wrong with my external monitor/HDMI cable, but then I realized that the laptop does this with its internal screen as well. I tried changing the Power > Screen Blank > Never - but it didn't work. It seems like system settings cannot override this. It seems like it appears after a random count of suspends. What might be causing this issue? What info should I post?
