Every Valve game on Steam I play has terrible performance.
Every game gets around 10-30 FPS and will hang when loading into a game, even though the games ran great on Windows (300+ FPS)
I have tried disabling proton and re-installing NVIDIA drivers (I used the latest nvidia drivers from pacman)
I have also tried rebooting several times and re-installing games. In Team Fortress 2, I tried to use a performance config (specifically MasterComfig) however this did not change much.
The NVIDIA driver is loaded and is being used, as other games (gzdoom, supertuxkart, etc.) don't have this issue.
This does not happen on my second machine, which is much slower than the new computer.
That machine gets around 75-90 FPS on an 2nd gen Intel IGPU
PC Specs & Information:
Kernel: 6.4.3-arch1-1
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X @ 3.9GHz
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2060
RAM: 16gb of DDR4
lsmod output (lsmod | grep nvidia)
Solution:
Turns out the latest nvidia drivers don't work, downgrading to 252 seems to work :D
