Hi. I'm new to Arch Linux and just finished installing it, but ran into a problem after restarting where it stopped booting and displayed the following message:
[FAILED] Failed to start Light Display Manager
I did some Google-ing and followed the steps at https://www.debugpoint.com/failed-to-start-lightdm/. Apparently, there's a problem with my greeter, so I followed the next steps but was unable to install the lightdm greeter due to a series of errors and warnings saying there were 'too many errors' from certain mirrors and that it 'failed retrieving file's because it 'could not resolve host'.
I tried the other steps from that guide, read through as much of the Arch wiki as my tired brain would allow, and tried some other troubleshooting steps I found, but was unable to find a solution to my problem. I even tried installing some other packages out of curiosity, and those gave me the same error messages. At my wit's end, I even tried reinstalling Arch, but couldn't boot from my USB stick for some reason, even after disabling Secure/Fast boot and other related settings.
I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction because I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks in advance if you help me figure it out.

Sounds like you have no internet connection. What does `uname -r && pacman -Q linux` show?

6.4.4-arch1-1
linux 6.4.4.arch1-1

So that's fine. How are you configuring your network?

I figured it out. I had connected to Wi-Fi during the setup process, but apparently those settings didn't get carried over to the actual install. For some reason, installing NetworkManager worked even though nothing else did and I just connected to my Wi-Fi from there. Now I've got my greeter and a boring-looking window manager. I can pretty it up later though.
Thanks for helping me out! Now I can brag about using Arch ![]()
