I'm using a wireless headset that shows up as a Plantronics BT600 audio device (pulseaudio has a number of profiles to choose for it - analog seems most reliable). The problem is that the headset is always on. The microphone is always transmitting (which can be seen in pavucontrol as levels changing upon any sound).
As a result it drains its battery in few hours instead of lasting a couple of days as it did on the other OS.
Is there any mechanism in Linux to somehow replicate how windows handles it (only activating as necessary)? Alternatively, if there is any wireless headset that is better supported on Linux? However the bar for replacing the plantronics one is set very high, this headset has 4 microphones for example and provides excellent audio even in strong wind, or with outside noise, but if anyone knows an equivalent quality device that works better in Linux I'd get it.
