Can't connect to CUPS

Hi, I've just installed cups, but when i try to go on http://127.0.0.1:631 or http://localhost:631 the only thing i get is "403 forbidden", even using the cups.conf that until 3 weeks ago worked perfectly.

Someone can help me?

Thank you smile

Re: Can't connect to CUPS

well first and fore most, you mentioned that you installed CUPS buy did you as root run "/etc/rc.d/cups start" to start the daemon? If it is not running the URL will not work.

10.0.0.1 - - [16/Jan/2007:19:18:04 +0100] "GET /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1" 403 0 - -

That's all... I even tried to bring network down, but it didn't help...

Re: Can't connect to CUPS

The line I would suspect is second or third:
D [16/Jan/2007:19:16:43 +0100] cupsdAcceptClient: 6 from 10.0.0.1:631 (IPv4)

I'm guessing you're on a network with 10.*.*.* addresses? Somehow CUPS is seeing you connecting from that address, which I believe is the problem. You might want to post up your hosts file, because something odd is going on.

Re: Can't connect to CUPS

Hi, sorry for the late answer but i've been busy with exams...

I've 2 network card, one wireless who connects to the router on the 192.168.0.* broadcast and one wired who connects to another pc on the 10.0.0.* broadcast. My hosts file follow:

disabled@dario:~$ cat /etc/hosts
#
# /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
#

#<ip> <hostname> <hostname>
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

192.168.0.2 andrea
192.168.0.3 storage
192.168.0.10 dario
192.168.0.15 alice

# End of file
disabled@dario:~$ cat /etc/hosts.allow
#
# /etc/hosts.allow
#

ALL: alice, andrea, storage, localhost

# End of file
disabled@dario:~$ cat /etc/hosts.deny
#
# /etc/hosts.deny
#

ALL: ALL: DENY

# End of file

The entry localhost in hosts.allow was added trying to find a solution for this problem (but it didn't help... tongue).

Thank you again smile
