Codecs to run *.rmvb with Kafeine/Xine

Good evening,

as the title tells I have an issue with *.rmvb-files and Kaffeine, using the Xine-Engine. The picture is flawless, but I have no sound during playback. KMplayer handles it perfectly, but I'm just more used to Kaffeine and like the interface a lot more. With Kubuntu I never really had problems, so I think that the problem is of a rather trivial nature.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

regards, cg

Re: Codecs to run *.rmvb with Kafeine/Xine

AFAIR, kaffeine can also use mplayer (and gstreamer) as an engine.

-edit-

Well, actually you said it yourself - but my notion is that you can have the kaffeine interface and the goodness of mplayer engine, which seems to decode rmvb properly.

Re: Codecs to run *.rmvb with Kafeine/Xine

If you use MPlayer for Kaffeine, the control scheme completely changes. The Xine-Control-Scheme is what I really want to use, just because I do not fully like the way, KMPlayer is controlled.

For instance, when pressing 'ESC', the movie instantly halts. I do not want this, as it happens far too often.

I may only suggest you to give KPlayer or VLC a try. Maybe they will fit your needs.

Obviously, fixing kaffeine with xine engine would be the best solution, but, alas, I can't help you with that ;-)
