Occasionally as I'm playing audio, the playback gets corrupted. Not sure how to describe it better, so here's some samples:

You are playing out of what? Sounds like the quality degradation you get from BT HW getting switched to HSP mode in order to support mic output.

Hi! I'm playing in on the built-in speakers on a laptop. But I have reproduced the same issue if I use headphones plugged into the 3.5mm jack as well.
Here are the outputs of the commands. They are the same when the audio is fine, and when it gets corrupted.
Jumping back and fourth through the audio a bunch of time is the easiest way I can reproduce, but it can also happen on its own. I seem to be able to temporarily fix it by changing the smapling rate with pw-metadata -n settings 0 clock.force-rate 44100 (or 48000, whichever causes it to change).
