[Solved] Asus Zenfone 9 not showing up as USB device.

Has anyone had success connecting their Zenfones to Linux?

My Zenfone 9 is not showing up in lsusb despite known good cables and ports.
dmesg doesn't show anything after connecting the phone, nada, niente.

The phone charges, but I can't switch the "usb preferences" on the phone.
All the options under "Use USB for" are greyed out.
I want to connect to adb, but any data transfer would be a start.

I have libmtp 1.1.21 installed and android-udev 20230614-1.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Usb C port was broken.

for adb you need 'android-tools' installed as well but that wont help with the usb problem sorry, all my android devices are ancient and 'just work'

Did you tried default config options in developer menu and set it to file transfer? Eventually debugging usb in developer menu?
