Hi there!
I run into this problem when running musescore after installation and open the file dialog: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fonts#Pango_Warnings
Instead the font symboles there are only squares/rectangles in the dialog.
In my case, it outputs the following the console:
(mscore:2993): Pango-WARNING **: 12:57:29.673: failed to create cairo scaled font, expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Cantarell Bold 14.3994140625'
(mscore:2993): Pango-WARNING **: 12:57:29.673: font_face status is: <unknown error status>
(mscore:2993): Pango-WARNING **: 12:57:29.673: scaled_font status is: out of memory
I guess this font package is meant: https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/an … ell-fonts/
But it is already installed. Therefore, my problem seems to differ from the explanation in the wiki - there I understand it that the respective font is not installed and this is the cause of the problem.
Has somebody of you an idea? Would greatly appreciate it :)
Greetings!

I don't have a fix but I am also experiencing this issue.

Workaround: install https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cant … atic-fonts with yay or the like

Linking musescore to the system freetype2 library appears to fix it. I filed a bug to track this: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/79782
