/etc/asound.conf is ignored

hello everyone

as per subject, otherwise devices work individually

output of aplay -L does not include any devices defined in the /etc/asound.conf, same file works on ubuntu and debian

how to troubleshoot?
please advise

p.s. it turns out, even tough aplay -L does not list my custom devices configured in asound.conf, they work, how come?

You want to add smth like

hint {
    show on
    description "My fancy pcm"
  }

to your pcm definitions
