Hello,
I have purchased dell u2722de monitor recently which has built in docking station with ethernet controller. I attach my arch labtop to this monitor with single type-c to type-c cable which provides video and dock connection.
The ethernet connection often drops, ip address sometimes hangs, sometimes I receive there is no carrier error. I am using NetworkManger for network manager. Apparently this issue has been well know by the user of this monitor. Dell Support Forum
Dell has provided firmware update for this monitor which I applied by a windows labtop by a windows labtop that I borrowed. Apparently the Realtek USB Ethernet Controller driver needs to be updated in the client machine as well and maybe the powersaving feature of this driver should be disabled. I am not sure how to do it. Below there are lspci and lsusb outputs are presented when my arch labtop is connected to the monitor. I had to connect labtop to switch to access the internet.
lscp output is as follows

You might also want to actually describe the problem and perhaps illustrate it w/ the system journal.
