[SOLVED] steam not work correctly

I followed wiki tutorial to install steam, but it seem not work correctly.

If I use double-click to open steam in desktop the steam window will flash. I used ps -e | grep steam   to check process found steam process still live.

So I tried to run ./steam in .local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/ , and then steam threw fatal error: Failed to load steamui.so. steamui.so is exists in current directory.

The following is the program output.

I had a try to read troubleshooting but I can not deal with the problem. sad

If you need more message please tell me. I will response in a soon.

Update:

The cause of this problem is a file named "kioslaverc". It is about kde network proxy and located in "~/.config/kioslaverc". Steam work in normal when I removed this file.

The fontconfig errors can typically be ignored, there seems to be something wrong with one of your themes.

$  pacman -F /usr/share/themes/Breeze/gtk-2.0/widgets/entry
usr/share/themes/Breeze/gtk-2.0/widgets/entry is owned by extra/breeze-gtk 5.27.7-1
$

What is your Window Manager / Desktop Environment and are you indeed using a GTK-2 theme ?

What is your Window Manager / Desktop Environment and are you indeed using a GTK-2 theme ?

Yes, I have ignored the error of font in fact.

My Desktop Environment is KDE + Xorg and theme is Layan downloading in KDE store.

Looks like you installed KDE using plasma-meta .

Try deleting just breeze-gtk # pacman -Rdd breeze-gtk . (the # indicates you need to run the command with root rights).

NOTE: ONLY USE -Rdd IN SPECIAL CASES WHEN TOLD TO BY SOMEONE YOU TRUST TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

No, I used to install KDE using sudo pacman -S plasma .

I hava removed breeze-gtk now. The error message disappeared about breeze-gtk when I runed steam again.

I overlooked that there's a package group plasma, -dd was not needed.

Does steam work as expected now ?

If not , post full outputs of

$ lspci -k
$ glxinfo -B     #comes_with_mesa-utils
$ vukaninfo --summary #comes_with_vulkan-tools

Doesn't look like  a kernel issue, but an incorrect graphics setup.

lspci showed you are on a hybrid system combining an integrated AMD gpu with a Nvidia card. The vulkaninfo output suggests you are using amdvlk which doesn't work well on hybrid systems.

Please post 

$ pacman -Qs vulkan
$ pacman -Qs layers

I have used optimus-manager to choose graphics driver, and I should have used integration mode. Bbswitch-dkms doesn't work,though.

restart X (or computer) and post fresh vulakninfo --summary .

hahaha,I have removed optimus-manager on this morning, and I am using prime offload at now. The reason was that bbswitch didn't work too, So I looked for a lot of ways to solve it.

Prime offload work ok at now, and I can use "DRI_PRIME=1 command" to use dcard.

But steam, as always, doesn't work. It is bad because we have costed much time in it.

Ok, let's check first if something in your personal settings causes this.

Create a fresh temporary  user and login as it. configure as little as possible, does steam work for that user ?

Steam work well in other user. I guess that steam windows has problem.

~/.steam
~/.local/share/Steam

Backup both, then remove the first one and start steam.
If it still fails, remove the 2nd one , start steam.
Incase that also fails remove both folders and start steam.
