So I have an nvidia geforce gtx 1070 egpu for my thinkpad t480. I somehow managed to get it working several months ago after doing a lot of work. I knew this day would come when I do an update and now it's running very slow to the point where even scrolling websites is laggy. It's still displaying through the egpu. I don't even know how to switch back to my internal gpu at this point and just use the laptop screen. It's getting to the point where I might just have to get a new pc because I've gone beyond my abilities and got my system to a point where I can't get it usable again. I don't know if the drivers updated or what during the update but I already deleted the cache so restoring is off the table. I'm really struggling here and I just have no idea where to begin and having a difficult time finding information online.
EDIT: Okay, I figured out how to switch back and forth between my internal and external GPU. When using the internal GPU, Nvidia GeForce MX150, on the laptop screen, I get fantastic graphics. I'm pleased because at least the laptop is workable at this point. However when I am using the egpu, it is being rendered by something called llvmpipe and I think this is not correct.

If you delete all Xorg configuration then automatic configuration should get the internal gpu working. After that you can (patiently) review your work and try to understand what you did.
