XFCE Screensaver reconnects HDMI

I have a Computer running Arch with XFCE, and it's set in the XFCE settings to go to the screensaver and lock the screen after 5 minutes of being idle. when it's gone to that state and I wake it up and log back in, I get the screen configuration dialogue that also opens whenever you reconnect the monitor's HDMI cable. This only happens with a new monitor I got which is connected via HDMI. Before I had a monitor connected via DVI and this never happened iirc. It's a problem because the "reconnecting" resets the settings of the screen so I have to manually change the refresh rate every time after computer has gone to idle. Does anybody know how this could be fixed?

That bench may be iron, but I assure you it's quite comfortable.

Re: XFCE Screensaver reconnects HDMI

The output will unregister for the DPMS event (is it a Tv?)
If this isn't configurable in the monitor, shy of disbling DPMS there's probably no much you can do about that.

You could test whether any DPMS state causes this

xset dpms force standby
xset dpms force suspend
xset dpms force off # this one will for pretty much sure

Also the dialog should™ be optional, https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings/display
So while you cannot avoid the re-connect, you can probably make it less annoying by automatically applying an existing profile?

It's not a TV but a pretty modern new bought monitor (an Acer Nitro VG2 if I am not mistaken). I actually bought two of these, they are now connected to two PCs running almost identical systems. DPMS standby and suspend look very similar to the effect of the screensaver on first glance, but they don't reconnect the monitor. off does though. I tested 'xset dpms force off' on both PCs, and on both of them it has that same effect of apparently reconnecting/resetting the monitor.

I also tried it with the old Monitor that was being used before, but this time connected with HDMI (it was DVI before). And the problem does not occur on the old monitor. So it seems to be an issue of this specific monitor model.

Actually, it seems like disabling and the re-enabling DPMS (running 'xset -dpms' and then 'xset dpms') has fixed the issue. The monitor doesn't get reset after the computer goes to standby, it doesn't even get reset after running 'xset dpms force off'.

So thank you for your help. I didn't even know that DPMS existed.
