xorg mapping of LEDs

I have a Dell G16 laptop. It does not have Scroll Lock and Num Lock LEDs, but it has a Caps Lock LED and two others on the mute speaker and mute mic multimedia buttons, plus the keyboard backlight.

Caps Lock works as expected, when in lock, the LED is on, otherwise off. So xorg knows how to handle that LED.
However, xset led on, which supposed to turn on all LEDs under xorg's control, does not turn it on. In fact, that command does not touch any LED at all.

However, all the LEDs can be controlled via the /sys/class/leds/<group>::<led>/ files, so the kernel knows about them, names them correctly and provides access to them.

I wonder whether there is some config file somewhere in the zillion xorg config files where the LEDs known by the kernel can be mapped to LEDs controlled by xorg?

Thanks,
