I am running KDE and since about a month, the NetworkManager applet in plasma becomes useless after resume from suspend.
It behaves as if there ware no WiFi card. However, NetworkManager works in the background and connects to WiFi and ethernet. But Plasma NM keeps behaving as there was no network whatsoever.

I have to run nm-applet to be able to connect to other WiFis or do anything. Alternatively, I have to reboot.

Anything in the journal? I was using this just yesterday including suspends and the widget worked fine.

Is this w/ or w/o the NM restart-on-suspend script?
Does logging out and back into plasma suffice or do you /have/ to reboot?
Do you get away w/ restarting the plasmashell process (caveat: Idk whether the widget actually resides in that process)

Without NM restart-on-suspend script.
Re-logging suffices.
Restarting plasmashell does not suffice.

"kcmshell5 kded", toggle the networkmanager daemon off/on - does that revive the widget?

I stopped and started Network Manager module. It did not help.

On my side, just restarting NetworkManager makes the applet thinking there is no connection (but there is and works), even withouy suspending.
Used to work in the past.

For anyone interested, this is a confirmed bug in Plasma 5. Supposedly fixed in Plasma 6, to be released in February.

Downgrading Network Manager to 1.42 will circumvent the issue until Plasma 6 is released.
Also, there might have been a fix which will be released in KDE Framework 5.112, so lets see.
