Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5

Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5 has been out for a while and I want to whine and complain and heckle the lazy devs that haven't got it up to date.

No, let me rephrase that. I want to compile it from source using ABS, but I'm not sure what to do. Thunderbird 0.4 has a freetype patch and a local version of mozilla-thunderbird.run, and I'm not sure what I need to do to update these? Is a similar patch necessary for 0.5, or was it built in? It looks like the thunderbird.run just executes the binary in opt, that's simple to understand. But that freetype patch... is it still necessary and where would I find one for 0.5? What's it do?

Thank ye,
Dusty

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5

I made a package my own without the patch and I don't see any differences.
I can put this package in /incoming tomorrow or I can send to one of the TUR's (is that is possible) or become a TU myself wink

apt-get install arch

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5

Ok, thanks for the info. Let me know if you put it in incoming; it'd probably be a smaller dl for me than the source.

Thanks,
Dusty

Hi,

it's intresting that it compiles without patching, since this patch is a
workouround for the maleformed xft header calls of freetype. However,
thunderbird is an orphan, currently. I hope i get my box up and running
tomorrow or at least on Tuesday.  I will try to adopt thunderbird and hope
that it will work, since i never compiled these mozilla like packages myself.

If I'm sucessful the package wil be up Tuesday evening (GMT+1)

bye neri

I tried to build the new package, it didn't compile without the patch. Did you
tweak your local headers within XFT?

@Moritz and the others
I compiled it and it worked for me at the office box. I like to confirm that
build on my freshly set up "build box", so i can up it only tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
It won't be later than highnoon, I think. Promised!  smile

bye neri and thanks for your patience

Urm... I'm not paying you for this service, why would you deserve anything but patience! In fact, I offer you great thanks for creating a mozilla thunderbird package at all!  No limits. smile
