I'm playing a bit with different kernels to see if I can notice any speed improvement or better resource usage. The default kernel is already fast and boot quickly, same for Zen, but I don't feel any real improvement. Now I'm using the Clear Linux kernel used in the Intel distribution, and I noticed a faster boot time and the laptop runs cooler. Do you guys noticed any improvements using a different kernel or it's just small talk?

It all depends on what kind of workload you're optimizing for. Kernels are not just used in laptops, they also run headless servers, for example. The best advice is in the Wiki:
Tip:
Best way to increase the speed of your system is to first tailor your kernel configuration to your architecture and processor type.
