Re: a

No, what's the problem with KDE's lock screen? Lockscreen integration directly as the DM is afaik only implemented in GNOME and GDM.

Re: a

Sorry, but it is not a possibility for me to be on the KDE lock screen after I have locked my session due to real-life circumstances (not an xy problem)

Re: a

Sounds XY to me. Is some information on KDE's lock screen that you'd rather not disclose? Media widget for playback? Disable that in system settings. Compromising wallpaper? Change that in system settings. Assuming you're using xorg you could technically enable session restore but that's not guaranteed to be fully implemented into everything you might be using while your session is active.

Re: a

Nope, already disabled all of those. Its just some real-life circumstance, everything could even be blacked out, but still it needs to be on the DM screen

Re: a

Actually, is there a way to change the username displayed on the lockscreen without actually changing the username in linux itself?

Re: a

Start the session on a different TTY/switch TTY in general for your own session.

Re: a

restoring the session will still lose transient data for sure (ie. unsaved documents, running shell processes etcetc)
Switching the TTY won't prevent it from being switched back - and it seems the OP chose a compromising user name?

What? How do these posts fit together?

Judging from the i18n files, the kscreenlocker should be configurable to not show any UI or default to the switch-user UI. *shrug*

Re: a

I coulnd't find the configuration options that would allow me to configure kscreenlocker to do that, much or less any configuration options (for ~/.config/kscreenlockerrc). I have compiled kscreenlocker to not show the username, but its alot of hassle since I want to be able to update it in the future. I also don't want to hardcode my name. Could you perhaps direct me to the configuration options for kscreenlocker? What do you mean by the i18n files?

Re: a

The *.mo files in the package - I haven't used or seen KDE in almost a decade, sorry.
It also seems as if at least fedora removed the switch-user feature, see eg. https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/ … spin/85443
