Hi,
I'm trying to make a remote I bought from China to work.
Context: I have an old iMac with LibreELEC that I want to control with it. The computer has some quirks and sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. After a week of the installation of the remote, it stopped working. The device itself emits a light when signal is being transmitted, so, apparently, it's not the remote's fault. Curiously, I plugged it in my ArchLinux laptop and...
Problem: Connecting the USB receiver and clicking any buttons does nothing, but the device is recognised by linux; extract from the systemd journal:

I am a bit lost on what to do. As far as I can see, /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:08.1/0000:03:00.3/usb1/1-4/1-4:1.0/0003:276D:1101.000A/input/input31 is detected as a keyboard, which should suffice, but does nothing. I've been poking around in /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:08.1/0000:03:00.3/usb1/1-4/1-4:1.0/0003:276D:1101.000A/input/input31/ with no luck. The name, properties, etc in those pseudo-files correctly match the hardware.
Any ideas would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

aliexpress link is 404 (might be regional issue?)
For clarification: the device originally ceased to function on MacOS (?) so you tried it on a different laptop running archlinux where it shows up but also doesn't work?
Just because it makes the LED flash doesn't mean it fires a radio signal; the latter requires abysmally more power (mostly b/c the LED requires close to none) so if the thing is battery driven (couldn't find anything about YSTEK LaserPen's…) I'd first and foremost change those.
When you say "clicking button does nothing", does that mean in sudo "evtest" or "libinput debug-events"?

I don't know what to say about the link, it's working for me. Here's the photo of it, extracted from the Aliexpress page's HTML: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/H4b7dc3bb58d … .jpg_.webp
It originally ceased to function on LibreElec on a iMac. So yes, I tried on my ArchLinux laptop, and here I am.
The remote is powered by 2x AAA non-rehcargable batteries that have had 1 week of usage.
evtest reports these:
/dev/input/event13: YSTEK LaserPen_V2.52
/dev/input/event14: YSTEK LaserPen_V2.52 Mouse
/dev/input/event15: YSTEK LaserPen_V2.52 Consumer Control
/dev/input/event16: YSTEK LaserPen_V2.52 System Control
and, selecting one by one and testing, neither of them output anything when using any key on the remote.
libinput debug-events reports:
❯ sudo libinput debug-events
-event2 DEVICE_ADDED Power Button seat0 default group1 cap:k
-event3 DEVICE_ADDED Video Bus seat0 default group2 cap:k
-event0 DEVICE_ADDED Lid Switch seat0 default group3 cap:S

-event6 DEVICE_ADDED Asus WMI hotkeys seat0 default group8 cap:k
-event4 DEVICE_ADDED AT Translated Set 2 keyboard seat0 default group9 cap:k
and after repeatedly pressing all keys of the remote, it doesn't output anything else.

Did you try to change them? Or at least took them out and re-inserted them after some minutes (effectively "re-booting" the RC)
It's disfunctional across heterogenous hosts and there seems no indication that the dongle wouldn't report, so I'd focus on the RC.

Sorry for not responding. I did buy some new batteries, and it still did not work. After trying on a macOS and still not working, I blamed the hardware.
