Been trying to resolve an issue with a particular application in Wine, thought I would try with a clean fresh .wine prefix. I get this:
[user@bobcat ~]$ wineboot -i

0170:fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"NDIS" failed to start: 1115It works perfectly well with the old prefix I've had hanging around for years, and it will create the new prefix but gives this apparently bogus "stack smashing" error. I've tried with regular wine and wine-staging, same result.
Any suggestions?

what happens if you make a new prefix:
WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.wine_test winecfgOffline
Same thing. Doesn't matter how the new prefix is created, it always fails. I think the problem is something that's being created inside the new prefix, or maybe permissions, because the old one works ok, issue I'm trying to pin down notwithstanding.
[user@bobcat ~]$ WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.wine_test winecfg

[user@bobcat ~]$ #<<<<< at this point wincfg has loaded and I've then pressed the ok buttonHow does wine know how to create the prefix? Maybe this is where I should be looking?
