VDPAU_DRIVER no longer set

I use this PC to stream games from my gaming system via Steam Remote Play. This has worked fine for a long time.

Suddenly it stopped working. It turns out the environment variable VDPAU_DRIVER is no longer set.

Now I need to start Steam with 'VDPAU_DRIVER=radeonsi' for it to work. However I wonder what happened. What changed? Shouldn't that variable be set automatically?

Please post the output of vdpauinfo without manually setting VDPAU_DRIVER.
X or wayland ?

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
