prepare-lastboot is a tiny utility for automatically creating and updating a fallback copy of the UKI and root filesystem after every successful boot, using features of ZFS and systemd-boot. The fallback is accessible from the systemd-boot menu and serves as an automatic fallback if boot attempt counting is enabled on the default entry. The goal of this utility is to efficiently and robustly mitigate against rendering the system unbootable, even without physical access, all while respecting the secure boot stack.
