[Solved] Bluetooth discovery is not working properly

Dear community!

I have been using my laptop for a while without bluetooth, and could not find a way to connect my headphone anymore. I do not have any other bluetooth device, however scanning it in public area shows no results in general, hence I am wondering if the discovering is not failing.

I tried on windows to connect my headphone and  it worked.

I then saw on multiple posts that Windows seems to create issues, I deactivated bluetooth on the BIOS and reactivated it which made it work for a few days, until it failed again.

Doing it again did not work. I try rebooting, restarting bluetooth etc. Nothing seemed to work.

I tried rebooting bluetooth as well, but nothing seem to work. I also tried bluez.

I followed most of the steps from the Official wiki

Got a faillure in this element below, which I believe is related to the above errors.

pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover                                                                                              1 
Failure: Module initialization failed

I tried reinstalling pulseaudio pulseaudio-bluetooth, or even following these instructions in A2DP Bluetooth headset issues with PulseAudio 6.0:

Edit the file:

/etc/pulse/default.pa

and comment out (with an # at the beginning of the line) the following line:

#load-module module-bluetooth-discover

now edit the file:

/usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11

and after the lines:

   if [ x”$SESSION_MANAGER” != x ] ; then
        /usr/bin/pactl load-module module-x11-xsmp “display=$DISPLAY session_manager=$SESSION_MANAGER” > /dev/null
    fi

add the following line:

    /usr/bin/pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover

Well, I am still stuck here. I tried reinstalling bluez, installed  bluez-utils and the bluez-utils-compat to compare. I tried rebooting multiple times, deactivating from bios and reactivating the bluetooth, tried from the windows session (it works there, so not a HW issue), followed multiple threads ...

In the wiki I followed also the troubleshooting part: "Device does not show up in scan" without any success.

I checked that I was in HCI and not HID

It is properly unblocked.

I tried rebooting the btusb driver

sudo rmmod btusb
sudo modprobe btusb

Maybe I should try another one?

Alright, it's working again thanks to this quite complete post

I changed the following

try changing
ControllerMode = bredr
in
/etc/bluetooth/main.conf

Then I restarted the bluetooth 

sudo systemctl restart bluetooth.service

And it worked back!
I hope it will help someone.
