Hi!
I got an problem with my Sapphire 7900 xtx in combination arch linux kernels (linux, linux-zen, linux-mainline).
Output of hwinfo --short: https://pastebin.com/x4cmMPv2 (2nd GPU and 2nd USB card is for virtual computers)
Additional Information:
DMCU feature version: 0, firmware version: 0x00000000
DMCUB feature version: 0, firmware version: 0x07002100
VBIOS version: 113-4E4710U-T4S (latest available Version)
This error message is spammed permanently:
[drm:dc_dmub_srv_wait_for_inbox0_ack [amdgpu]] *ERROR* Error waiting for INBOX0 HW Lock Ack
everything is leggy, graphical environments will only boot on one display, etc.
At the moment I use the 6.1.60-1-lts kernel, and here there are no big problems. The error does not appear on other distros like Ubuntu 23.10 with 6.5.0 Kernel and Nubara with 6.4.X Kernel. It appears on arch with the kernel 6.2.x and higher. It even shows up if I boot the latest archiso (11/2023). I tested the GPU on Windows 10 and 11 with the newest driver without any problems.
Researching the error I found that this issue is not yet resolved on amdgpu https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/2466 what points to: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/ … te_2102302 (yes, I even tried replacing the firmware)
There were problems with similar hw, but the solutions in the comments did not really work. The biggest similarities were the 7XXX xtx/xt gpu from Sapphire and arch linux.
Looking up serveral forum posts here I got to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 9#p2107799 but the links are leading to 404 or Bad Requests (incorrect or outdated). Installing the mainline-Kernel as suggested in the last posting, did not help, same outcome.
Here is the complete dmesg output with kernel 6.1.60 https://pastebin.com/wFzqcQHW
Here is the complete dmesg output with kernel 6.6.0 https://pastebin.com/9etXiVwc
Since the same problem comes up when I boot the newest arch-iso, I do not think this is a configuration issue, and the hardware runs without issues in Windows, and other Distributions or with the Arch LTS Kernel.
I hope someone can help, or got an advice for me.
Thank you for your time and patience!

Found! With the resultion of 5120x1440 I needed to deactivate adaptive sync from my display menu.
Then the bug is gone. Tested with (uname -a) Linux phobos 6.6.0-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Tue, 31 Oct 2023 13:15:05 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux
