Login/Display-Manager

Hi,

i am looking for a lightweight Login Manager, that hasn't much dependecies. I don't like kde and gdm very much and at xdm i miss the function to shut down my system (although there is the possibility to use some tcl/tk scripts to do it).

Are there any prjects? I use dwm and i love _very_ simple programs... big_smile

Re: Login/Display-Manager

you could try slim, but that created 200mb logfiles for me but i didn't know about logrotate. slim is very simple..

Re: Login/Display-Manager

you can also use quingy http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … ns=0&SeB=s which i atleast liked better than slim, or you can use wdm whoich i haven't tried. or you can just use some code in .bashrc..

Re: Login/Display-Manager

I'm using xdm-archlinux 0.2-1 which has the option to shutdown/reboot but I cannot find the package in any repos. Still have a copy of the the tar.gz file and pkgbuild if you are interested.

Re: Login/Display-Manager

I used to use that xdm mod too, before switching to slim. AFAIK whoever put it together never bothered to put it in the AUR. You could always upload it yourself, whompus, with a Contributor line for the original creator.

Re: Login/Display-Manager

Tried to submit the package to AUR but keep getting need to create an account! I already have an account which I normally use to vote on packages, do I need another type of account?

Re: Login/Display-Manager

Your account looks fine to me - there's only two types, normal and trusted, and you're normal. :?

Obvious question, but did you login before trying to submit?

Re: Login/Display-Manager

Had 2 opera windows open and the first one must have overidden the second.

Now getting an error
Package URL is missing a protocol (ie. http:// ,ftp://)

The PKGBUILD does not have a protocol as it is not required, the tarball just contains scripts, plain text docs and a xpm image. Any suggestions? I'm not very good with this aur stuff.

Re: Login/Display-Manager

The url= field is mandatory, and generally points to the app's home page - http://xorg.freedesktop.org, in this case.

If this is your first AUR submission, you might like to glance over the AUR and ABS pages in the wiki first.
