xorg locks up

hey folks just installed arch for the first time a little while ago, loving it so far.

problem is that when i exit fluxbox x hangs and appears to lock the keyboard (none of the usual key-combos work).

Im not a newbie but ill admit its been a while since ive installed xorg and co. and I'm not really sure where to look.

BTW, prior to x troubles I....
1. installed from 0.7.2 iso
2. pacman -Syu
3. pacman -S xorg xterm fluxbox etc

any pointers ?

You might be able to find error messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log - they usually start with (EE).  Warnings (WW) may also help.

What video driver do you use?

Xorg.0.log isnt showing anything strange.

video driver is vesa.

its fixed anyhow, replaced the vesa driver with i810 works a charm!
