GNOME 45 + Wayland + NVIDIA 1060: stutter & other issues

Hey all,

After the upgrade to GNOME 45, I've been logging with a Wayland session, but I've had to switch back to Xorg because it's basically unusable for me. I'd like to debug the issue and maybe report some bugs, but I've been having a hard time figuring out how to do so. Some advice would be helpful

The issue only occurs on my desktop with NVIDIA 1060 card (full specs below). My laptop (AMD with integrated graphics) has been on GNOME + Wayland for a long time without issues, including now on GNOME 45.

The most annoying thing by far is that, sometimes, some windows stutter like crazy. It looks like they jump back up to half a second back in time, then go back to normal, then stutter back. It sometimes says for a long time, sometimes it's only a brief flicker.
It's especially bad when gaming (Project Zomboid via Steam, native or runtime all the same, in case that matters.). It happens in all graphics modes (windowed, windowed borderless, full screen). It also happens for example in the slack app or sometimes the focused Chrome window.
It never happens with videos, in Chrome (Youtube, Plex, or just mp4 files) or in any video player I've tried so far.

Another thing is that, when I maximize chrome on one monitor and then focus another window, the maximized chrome window will get resized to the previous small window again. (But the un-maximize icon says, and clicking on that icon then un-maximizes back to the same size it already was.) The only way around this is to resize the window to take up the full screen.

I also can't get Chrome to enable some hardware accelerations (webgl mainly for video call background blur) and screen sharing is very finicky (sharing a chrome tab works fine, sharing a windows or screen either doesn't show me the options or they are all black). This may just be a matter of messing with the chrome flags, but I've already tried a few things and it does not seem to have much effect.
