Being a relative beginner I undertook to test Arch's download system by attempting to install 10 of the most famous desktop environments. The result is heart-breaking in that 8 out of 10 desktops failed the download. Only LXDE and Xfce survived the attempt. Failed candidates were: budgie, cinnamon, cutefish, deepin, enlightenment, gnome, plasma, mate.
I noticed it is just 2 files which are constantly reported with web-error 404 (on multiple repository mirrors).
aom-3.7.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst, nss-3.94-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
Furthermore: deepin-file-manager-1:6.0.34-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
Furthermore I couldn't download Firefox browser, reported the same files missing. Now I wonder whether this is just a local problem associated w/ my beginner status?

Always post the exact commands you used and the complete output of the error. Do not paraphrase. I have a bunch of guesses what's the problem here, but who likes guessing?

I'll go along with "no guessing" but have an additional request :
Aside from the exact commands you used and their output, please also add the contents of your /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist .
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

They are old.
Try
# pacman -SyuBut you should have done that before posting...

Thank you all for your kind answers! "pacman -Syu" was the solution for this problem. Indeed it was my beginner's ignorance which led to this malfunctioning. On the other hand I could imagine a download system which is versatile enough to render a hint that the local system is not up to date. So it's a bit of a mixed feeling, but thank you again for advice.
