[SOLVED] CUPS and Brother HL-L2447DW

Hey
I changed my very old HP Laserjet Printer to a brand new Brother HL-L2447DW. Brother provide deb and rpm packages for drivers and I extracted the files to /usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_HLL2447DW and /usr/share/cups/model/brother-HLL2447DW-cups-en.ppd. I connected the printer via USB.
Then I went to cups, the printer was found, setup was straight forward, looked perfect, but when I want to pint something, the job is immediately shown as "finished" without any error only the number of pages is shown as "Unknown" but nothing prints. Not even the test page. Using Windows in a VM everything works perfectly, but I'd really like to be able to print natively on Arch. Any ideas what to do?

Do you have brother-lpr-drivers-common and brother-cups-wrapper-common installed? Both are AUR packages.

Also, I would instead test the AUR drivers for brother-hll2340dw or brother-hll2350dw. One of them may work.

That printer supports IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) / Airprint and mopria , connecting it over network won't need special software and is probably a better/easier choice.

Also, I would instead test the AUR drivers for brother-hll2340dw or brother-hll2350dw. One of them may work.

I didn't have thos packages but I think they were not the cuse. I installed  brother-hll2340dw  and used this one as a driver and it actually works! No Idea why, but thanks for the idea!

As for network printing, I do not have a network accessible so this is not ideal for me. Thanks a lot for the help and solution!

Glad to help. Several people have reported cross-compatibility with Brother drivers.  Please mark thread as solved.
