Kernel doesn't boot (setting up standard PCI resources

Owkido I've got a big problem. I've upgraded my kernel to the latest with pacman (2.6.19.2-1). So everything was fine, was going for a reboot. But then.... the system just won't go any further then the following message:
"Setting up standard PCI resources"

I've tried the beyond kernel, but same story. I've searched the wiki and this forum, but I could not find any solution.

Problem is I've cleared my pacman cach, so I can't go back to my previous state (which was old anyway lol)

Edit, I forgot, the specs:
Asus M3000N laptop
Pentium-M 1600
I855GM

Did you read through the front page news?  If it' been awhile since you updated, it would be worth reading through.  Did you change the "hda?" to "sda?" if needed.

Re: Kernel doesn't boot (setting up standard PCI resources

Well the laptop hasn't got any updates in a while. But my mean PC gets his updates every day. I also read the news on the frontpage, I'm aware of that problem.

So I downloaded also the 0.8 alpha release (just in case wink). Both options (archlinux installation and archlinux installation ide-legacy), give me the same problem. It just hangs on boot.

I think it is a problem in de >2.6.16 kernel. But i don't know a thing about kernelconfigs and how to set it up properly yikes

Re: Kernel doesn't boot (setting up standard PCI resources

I tried debian with 2.6.18 kernel. It works. So i think it is a problem in the 2.6.19 kernel. Is it possible to still use the 2.6.18 kernel in archlinux? And if so, where can I download the 2.6.18 kernel?

Then I will wait till the 2.6.20 kernel and just hope that the problem is solved smile

I've tried debian.... but I'm missing arch already lol

Nobody knows where to download the stock 2.6.18 kernel from arch?

I know old topic, but mayby it is usefull to somebody wink

The 'solution' to this problem is sending the nolapic line to the kernel @ boot.
