the software was damaged after the update

I performed an update with sudo pacman -Syu After that, I turned off the computer normally. When I turned on the computer later, the desktop was black and only the taskbar appeared. The desktop is Xfce. I had a 5g wifi antenna and it stopped connecting to the internet. I had to connect a cable and it works. I tried to do another update but it says that everything is up to date. I turned it off and it wouldn't turn off, it just stayed on. in addition the PC is pausing and that did not happen before.

These were the packages that were updated

Re: the software was damaged after the update

Please use

tags. Edit your post in this regard.

I performed an update from 8 to 9

What's that supposed to be? Or do you mean "o'clock"? Nobody cares.

the desktop was black and only the taskbar appeared.

I had a 5g wifi antenna and it stopped connecting to the internet. I had to connect a cable and it works.

uname -a
pacman -Qs kernel

Re: the software was damaged after the update

So you're running the updated kernel, that's not it.

Please post your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Re: the software was damaged after the update

I'm having an issue with a command I'm trying to execute. I'm running the command multiple times, but I'm only getting a single line of output containing a URL.

$ sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st
http://0x0.st/H3w3.txt

Re: the software was damaged after the update

The command pipes the journal for the current boot to a pastebin which returns the URL of the page hosting the file you uploaded.  So the one line output is expected.

Re: the software was damaged after the update

You've NM and systemd-networkd enabled, pick one, disable the other.

Other than that, there's no glaring problem - can you find the 5GHz AP with other devices?
You're connecting to a 2.4GHz AP w/o issues and get a lease and global connection.

Does xfce show up in corehttps://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Core_dump#Examining_a_core_dump ?

Re: the software was damaged after the update

I disabled systemd-networkd and reinstalled NetworkManager.

sudo systemctl stop systemd-networkd
sudo systemctl disable systemd-networkd
sudo pacman -S networkmanager
sudo systemctl enable NetworkManager
sudo systemctl start NetworkManager
sudo systemctl stop systemd-resolved
sudo systemctl disable systemd-resolved

With that, I was able to connect to the 5G Wi-Fi again. I think that's why the PC paused; so far, I haven't experienced any more Pc paused.
However, I have a question because I want to learn: How did you know that I had two networking services enabled?

On the other hand, the desktop was restored with:

xfdesktop &
nohup xfdesktop

I also performed a system update, and Linux was updated from linux 6.6.5-arch1-1 to Linux 6.6.6-arch1-1. The PC has turned off without problems for now.

Regarding core dumps, I don't think I have core dump files enabled because it requires the gdb 13.2-1 library. I searched for it with yay, and it's not even installed

thank you very much for everything especially seth for the wifi

They show up in your journal.

xfdesktop &
nohup xfdesktop

what do you think that does and where do you put that?

dump files enabled because it requires the gdb 13.2-1 library

No, you need sth. like gdb to inspect them, but coredumps are images of the process memory.

sudo coredumpctl list

Re: the software was damaged after the update

Hi

I entered the following command in the terminal, and the desktop icons appeared.

xfdesktop

However, when I closed the terminal, the icons disappeared. To address this issue, I executed the following command in the terminal:

nohup xfdesktop

This command creates a file in the /home/user/ directory named nohup.out. Once this file appears, Now I can close the terminal, and the icons remain on the desktop

about the command

sudo coredumpctl list

I am getting the next result

TIME COREFILE EXE SIZE
Mon 2023-12-11 23:01:33 -05 /usr/lib/electron25/electron 8.0M

Re: the software was damaged after the update

Ok, that's normal. Try eg.

xfdesktop <&- > /dev/null & disown
Tue 2023-12-12 08:36:08 -05 /usr/bin/xfdesktop 5.8M

That looks interesting enough, can you show the backtrace?

Re: the software was damaged after the update

The desktop icons now are working fine, but during the login screen, the background has changed from green to black. This wasn't the case before.

About the "backtrace." If you're referring to the command history

the command history before is:

  254 xfdesktop &

In the command 215 , I was trying to fix problems with the internet and missing desktop icons.

Perhaps the back history leading up to that command will shed some light on what happen.

In previous days openshot stopped working and I installed it again

Re: the software was damaged after the update

If you're referring to the command history

No, the backtrace of the crashing process.
