swapfile & discard

Is it necessary, when using swap as a file (and not a separate partition) on an ssd, to apply the discard option to it?
Fstrim is already regularly done for the file system on which the swapfile is located.

Discard & fstrim aren't really needed for modern SSDs. They are over-provisioned and they have their own hardware-based garbage collection mechanisms.
