Geometry Dash refuses to launch. Here's the log (done by setting the launch options to

Steam appears to generate the locale itself, at least according to the log messages.

I did a quick search and this post suggests deleting CCGameManager.dat, CCGamemanager.dat.bak, CCLocalLevels.dat, and CCLocalLevels.dat.bak but it's for Windows. Worth a try though.

I navigated to

/home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/322170/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/GeometryDash

which is the Linux equivalent of the path mentioned in the reddit post. This folder is empty. This is a fresh installation.

Setting the launch options to "LANG=en_US.UTF-8 %command%" makes the game work but I want to fix the problem in its entirety.

Also check your shell initialisation files (~/.bashrc, ~/.bash_profile for bash, ~/.profile and the relavant rc file for other shells) and /etc/environment{,/d*} for any exports that might be b0rking your set up.

Since previous posts I have made the following changes:
1. Appended

LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8

to /etc/environment
2. Fixed the lowercase "us" in ~/.config/plasma-localerc

After the 1st change

man

no longer complains about locale issues however games are still failing to run with the aforementioned locale errors

locale -a

also no longer mentions the missing locale types with its output now being

C
C.utf8
en_US.utf8
POSIX

The changes I had made seems to of made the locale errors from proton games to go away. A few of them are not running or not working properly but seeing as the locale problems are fixed I'll mark this as solved.

Undo that, if the issue remains, post the resulting output of "locale".

LC_ALL is a debug variable and not designed to be unconditionally set.
It is NOT a solution to anything.
