Hi,
I installed amarok last night. I have installed from "base" and am upgraded to "current", no testing, and I am using gnome.
After installing amarok, running it from Applications->Sound & Video->, it would blink quickly and go away. So, I ran it from a terminal prompt and it reported a dependency on libpq. This seemed to be taken care of when I installed libpqxx manually. Amarok would then start and function.
I was watching the terminal output when a song would finish, and it would lament about not finding ruby. I also installed this manually and that seemed to fix the problem on that issue.
Shouldn't these dependencies have been recognized and installed when I installed amarok?

Does it? It's not listed in the depend list of amarok.

Maybe a compile flag which can be turned off and wasn't.
Amarok has for long been a desaster on depends now. Damir updated them quite well. Hopefully Damir soon gets completely rid of this

I added one a couple days ago.

it's prolly not listed on ak website because postgresql is only needed if it's build with support for psql.
another dependency is ruby.
so this is a pkging bug rather than a dev~ issue..
