Wanting to learn arch.

Apologies if posts like these are far too common, but generally would it be a bad idea for someone who has intermediate experience to use Arch?
I genuinely have an interest, as I prefer rolling releases and the aur is an amazing resource.
However, I haven't had the longest experience in linux. I have used other distros like Mint (a few months of experience) but felt displeased with the bloat, and lack of full control over my system.
Would it be better to just use mint for a few years until I feel more comfortable? Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the forums!

Start by reading the wiki, and see how much you understand/completely don't understand - maybe start here:

Re: Wanting to learn arch.

You'll be fine as long as you enjoy reading & learning, which seems to be the case.

Arch is a lot simpler than something like Debian or Ubuntu so it's also easier to understand.

Re: Wanting to learn arch.

Thank you for the reply! I was thinking about reinstalling and doing it manually instead of using the install script (a friend recommended I use it instead) would that be a better option?

Re: Wanting to learn arch.

The only supported installation methods are by following the official guide to which I linked or by using https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/archinstall/.

If you use any other script then any support threads you open here will be closed and deleted. You might want to mention that to your friend tongue

I would recommend the manual method because it makes you more aware of the specific configuration details and it also teaches you how to fix your system if it breaks.
