Cinnamon's mint-y icon theme isn't applying on KDE Plasma

Hello all, I was curious if anyone had any familiarity with icons and what might be the trouble here. I really like the default icon theme Linux Mint uses, called "mint-y" (upstream here - https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-y-icons ) , and wanted to apply it to my own system running KDE Plasma. However, when installing the theme (either through the mint-y-icons AUR package or by downloading them directly and installing in "~/.local/share/icons", the settings GUI sees the icon theme just fine, and allows me to apply it, but only some of the icons actually switch over. Folders and some file icons seem to work, but none of the application icons or most other misc. items switch, they remain as is.

I took a look at the file structure of the icon theme, and compared it to a known working icon set, and while everything seemed to exist and be consistent, there were a few minor differences (none of which were immediate red flags however). Comparing between the two "index.theme" configs didn't show any obvious differences, with the exception that their folder structure has the categories as the top level, and the different sizes under that, which is reversed from the others I've seen. However, the file paths all seem to be consistent. The biggest inconsistency I've seen, and what might be the issue, is the "places" directory has sizes up to 48, 64, 96, and 128, while their "apps" directory has 48, 64, 96, and 256, but no 128. Given that these are exactly the ones that aren't showing up for me, that seems to indicate the issue, however even as I increase my panel to invoke different app icon sizes I never see the correct ones snap in.

Does anyone have any idea what's up with this configuration? Is the missing 128 size app directory the issue, and is there a work around? Thanks for any insights.

Hi, have you tried taking the path of least resistance and finding a native theme of KDE that you like?
