external display not working

hello, i have an external display that doesn't connect
current config, asus laptop rog strix g15 2022, with a ryzen 9 6900hx , rtx 3070ti and a physical mux switch and i have arch with kde
when i connect my external monitor it simply doesn't work, i have a multi-boot setup and the external monitor works with ubuntu and windows
when i change the settings in the kde settings app to enable the external monitor and enable it then click apply it doesn't change when i reoppen the settings app
i tried to enable the monitor from the terminal with this command
xrandr --output HDMI-1-0 --auto
or with any similar command and it throws this error
xrandr: Configure crtc 4 failed
it throws the same error with both x11 or wayland
if anyone has a similar situtation or has a clue i would appreciate any help

Re: external display not working

xrandr in a wayland context is hardly reliable, so test on X11 and please post your Xorg log for a session that has the output supposingly attached and you trying to activate it, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General
Also the output of "xrandr -q" when the output is supposed to be available.
