Power usage assessment on Lenovo Thinkpad P52 Laptop

This is my first time posting a new request for help, I have managed to re-install my system using archinstall, read the code of conduct and FAQ so hopefully it goes ok.

I have a second-hand Lenovo Thinkpad P52 laptop and I am concerned about high temperatures, possible throttling and excessive fan noise.

I came across this post:
https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic. … 0#p1838950
and I was wondering if it might be possible for someone to assess the situation and help me read/analyse the various programs I’ve installed (Thinkfan UI, Gnome System Monitor, autocpu-free, tuned-gui, tlp-ui) to try to figure out if there is a problem or if improvements can be made.

It would be great to know which processes occupy the CPU most and if I can optimise battery life any better – I understand the Nvidia card which is using nouveau driver may be poor for battery life but like other users, I have not managed to get the system to boot when I change the BIOS option from ‘Dedicated’ to ‘Hybrid’. I understand the i915 kernel module may be required to use more power-efficient Intel driver with ‘modesetting’ option, but I lack the skills to put it into action.

Finally, I would like to know if my drive layout is ok or if it could also be impacting power usage badly as I also have this issue which I’ve not managed to resolve: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=201816

Failing getting help with all this in a forum like this, I have wondered if professional servicing or maintenance might be needed, in terms of new thermal compound or thermal re-paste and new thermal pads but I am unsure on the availability of such a service for any of these kinds of tasks.

Thanks for reading, apologies for the long post.
