Installing Kernel

Up till now, i have always built my kernels manually.  I want to try out the beyond kernel.  Is there any difference if i do it manually as well, or use pacman?

Re: Installing Kernel

Well, nothing beyond specific here: if the default config is good for you (as it is likely to happen) you do not need to compile it: you can see the default config in /var/abs/extra/kernels/kernel26beyond/config. But you can compile it if you need some specific features (such as a certain framebuffer implementation, an uncommon driver not included in the default config, etc.; do not mind about "optimizations", they are placebo) or if you simply like so, because it is fun.

Re: Installing Kernel

That's kinda what I thought too.   Its a left over habit from my gentoo days, and i have a good config, so i just compile my own. Thanks!
