Hello there!
A week ago I started finding partitions/file systems on my friend's 3TB HDD. Initial problem was due to strange USB—SATA adapter: with the adapter partitions and file systems are read just fine, but directly over the SATA there's some error and nothing is read at all.
Second time soldering fallen off USB connector is no fun, so I've decided to try something new. GParted has a functionality of searching and analysing drives for existing file systems, so there's that.
Here is an example output after a weeks worth of time — it's similar with all the previous ones.
[Feb11 16:34] sd 6:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#23 uas_eh_abort_handler 0 uas-tag 2 inflight: CMD IN
[ +0.000018] sd 6:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#23 CDB: Read(16) 88 00 00 00 00 00 96 5a 40 20 00 00 01 00 00 00
[ +0.000145] sd 6:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#22 uas_eh_abort_handler 0 uas-tag 1 inflight: CMD IN
[ +0.000012] sd 6:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#22 CDB: Read(16) 88 00 00 00 00 00 96 5a 3f 20 00 00 01 00 00 00
Four-lined structure is repeated over this procedure every time 16-digit adress 88 00 00 00 00 00 96 5a 3f 20 00 00 01 00 00 00 is changed. I'll be very grateful for the help finding out what this 16-digit number actually is. Really, I just don't have enough technical background to figure it out myself.
Thank you in advance!

a) try to examine SMART values with the working adapter, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/S.M.A.R.T. , to see if the harddisk is healthy.
b) google for "emulation 4k issues" seems you are affected and must use your harddisk with the provided usb adapter.
c) For permanent usage of the harddisk directly via sata, you must re-partition and re-formating the drive, with data loss, and it will not work in the usb adapter afterwards.
d) the error message is not from gparted - expect here no docu, I think it's more a kernel message about an hardware fault (the 4k sector issue) or a faulty sata cable.
