Hi
Am back to using Arch full time after flirting with other distros. Everything works apart from Beryl. Beryl does not crash or anything but there are no window decorations nor are an other Beryl effects visible.

I am starting Beryl from a terminal using beryl-manager. This behaviour is same in both KDE and Gnome. I keep getting this message in the terminal:

I am using Aiglx as directed here:

I have pacmaned the latest beryl today. My graphics card is Nvidia FX5200. Beryl works on this computer under Kubuntu.
Thanks in advance

No, you don't. NVIDIA does not support AIGLX. Follow the nvidia instructions on the same wiki page. Also make sure at least one window decorator is installed and running (emerald-svn+emerald-themes-svn, aquamarine-svn or heliodor-svn).

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I tried with Nvidia as given in the wiki. Still no window decorations. I have all the needed beryl packages installed.
Anything else that I can try? Very frustrating, since Beryl works perfectly with Ubuntu/Kubuntu Edgy on the same box.

There are several suggestions in the wiki for workarounds...have you tried any of them yet?

The important thing is the xorg.conf options. The AddARGBVisuals option is MANDATORY if you want window decorations to work with nvidia. You didn't answer my second question, whether a window decorator is installed, showing up in beryl-manager and running (restarting the decorator with beryl-manager helps sometimes). It is also important that the "Window Decorations" plugin is enabled in beryl settings.
