mkinitcpio fails to add all modules

Since some time ago (2 months) i can't update my kernel packages because mkinitcpio doesn't find any modules (WARNING: No modules were added to the image. This is probably not what you want.) followed by a bunch of ERROR: module not found: 'module names here'

It does work for some reason if i chroot into the arch drive from an ubuntu system and run mkinitcpio from there, that's really inconvenient to do every time i update the kernel though

(This happens with every kernel i have installed, linux, linux-zen, linux-lts)
