'new posts' annoyance / feature req

So, I (ab)use the "Show new posts since last visit" link at the top.  I've noticed something that annoys me when compared to phpBB and wanted to know if anyone knew of a fix for it.

When I click "Show new posts since last visit", it includes MY posts.  That's just silly.  Does it mean that there was a post from another user as I was posting? You can't tell.  So I look at the thread, and 90% of the time, it's just me.

Turns out that the Read flagging time-based.  This was pointed out to me by Snowman on this thread. http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 92#p225592

No no, I understand that, but regardless of the timing used for "new posts", I don't think it should even include the user's own posts... I mean, they KNOW they posted.

I had this happen every now-and-again in phpBB as well, though it wasn't as consistent as punBB is doing it.  I've learned to ignore those personally.

Isn't it logic? You log in, but never log out - you just quit, right? wink
So the only date to decide weather you have seen postings is the date of your last login.

Re: 'new posts' annoyance / feature req

I agree with phrakture, this is really annoying. I've never seen this happen on another forum. If I wrote the post then I have therefore seen it, so its no longer new to me.
