Request MONDO RESCUE

http://www.mondorescue.org/

Mondo Rescue is a GPL disaster recovery solution. It supports Linux (i386, x86_64, ia64) and FreeBSD (i386). It's packaged for multiple distributions (RedHat, RHEL, SuSE, SLES, Mandriva, Debian, Gentoo).

It supports tapes, disks, network and CD/DVD as backup media, multiple filesystems, LVM, software and hardware Raid.

You need it to be safe.

Mondo requires afio, bzip2, cdrtools/cdrecord/growisofs, ncurses, newt, isolinux/syslinux, lzo (optional), lzop (optional), mkisofs, slang, and a few other packages...

If you are installing from a tarball then copy it to wherever you have enough space, for example /tmp and type:

bash# cd /tmp
bash# tar -zxvf mondo-2.xx.tgz
bash# cd mondo-2.xx
bash# ./configure
bash# make && make install

This installs mondo into /usr/local/lib/mondo and installs the programs into /usr/local/sbin

Re: Request MONDO RESCUE

It seems to be a nice and easy but still efficient backup system. I would also be interested in it... wink
Or are there better solutions already available in arch?

Re: Request MONDO RESCUE

This is gaining momentum, I can feel it wink But seriously, I might give it shot when I find the time.... However, I seem to remember it being a bit of a bitch to get working...

If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
