[Solved] Recent Problem with Graphical Glitches Around Text Inputs

Most places in the OS that accept a text input show a strange "graphical" glitch when I begin text input. [This](https://imgur.com/a/89JoHK9) contains a few screenshots with examples from within both Firefox and the xfce application menu. It occurs in numerous applications and locations, including inside the Thunar file browser's address bar.

The "visual glitch" you can see in the screenshots isn't just visual - it occupies screen real-estate and prevents you from clicking on the items underneath it. In some way, the Display Manager is "aware" it's there. It *feels* like a compositing issue, but it still occurs after turning off compositing. I've had a look through the obvious logs (e.g. the output of dmesg) and can find no obvious errors, but I'm not sure what logs would be best to help troubleshoot the issue. This started at some point in the last week; however I had put off updating for some time, and installed a *significant* amount of updates at once, including kernel and driver updates. Using either the linux or the lts kernels does not change anything - it occurs in both.

Has anyone else encountered the issue? Given that it's not purely a graphical glitch (i.e. it stops mouse clicks), I'm not sure quite where to begin with my troubleshooting - I've already looked through the Nvidia page on the Arch Wiki for common problems.

Here https://bpa.st/MWRQ is the output of lspci in case you think it's related to the specific hardware/driver I'm using. I'm happy to provide any logs requested - I'm really unsure exactly what's causing the issue.

Update: I swapped from xfwm4 to Openbox. I'm not sure what the precise underlying cause of the issue was, but OpenBox doesn't have the same issue, so it would appear to be some combination of kernel/drivers with my hardware and xfwm4.
