Hello dear community,
I'm trying to install arch. As I want to do this with a USB drive. I torrented the 'archlinux-2024.03.01-x86_64.iso' file and wrote it to the drive as written in the wiki. When entering the boot menu of the computer, the drive shows up, but when selecting it, it does not boot. It just returns a black screen for a second and then returns to the boot menu.
things I have tried:
write the image w/:
- cat, pv, tee, dd, mint usb drive writer -- no difference
- downloaded the .iso w/ http download, verified it -- same issue
- write the linux mint image w/ the same processes. It worked and I could boot from the drive.
Did someone else encounter this issue?
Or could someone explain what the difference might be between the linux mint image and the arch image?
Best and many thanks
- had to disable secure boot. Thanks ![]()

The Arch image does not support secure boot, make sure that's disabled in your UEFI
