[SOLVED] Plasma 6 flickering with wayland

Hello everyone,

with the last upgrade Plasma 6 seems to be running wayland (i did not make the switch from X11 manually)
After waking up the PC from sleep, annoying flickering happens in all browsers (Chromium, Firefox, etc).
application icons missing everywhere, strange lines and flickering. While the icons will appear over time,
the flickering does not go away. When I am typing this message, 2-3 letters appear 1 second later after being typed,
parts of the website flicker from time to time. I have an nvidia card with proprietary drivers.

Any ideas on the issue, suggestions appreciated,

Edit: actually, the flickering starts after about 30 minute of usage.

There're also reports about issues w/ the 550xx drivers but nb. that the 545xx and 535xx dkms modules will not compile against linux 6.8 (w/o a patch)

Edit: so what happens after ~30 of usage?
Is this maybe a temperature issue (unlikely b/c of the S3 scenario)
Does the monitor turn off and on again?
Do you get the same behavior on X11?

already using

options nvidia-drm modeset=1
options nvidia NVreg_UsePageAttributeTable=1

in /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf . Which worked fine with X11. Now with wayland doesn't seem to work.
In fact typing anything in browser is annoying, everything flickering, when moving the cursor with keys drawing of cursor jumps all over in the text before settling on the correct line,
text selecting also flickers, plus parts of the page is flickering while drawing the new text or when moving the mouse over parts of the toolbar or page. Almost unusable. I will try to install a new DE, like xfce and try it there.

Edit: can I switch back to X11 ? Like i said, I didn't switch to wayland, after the upgrade, it was on wayland.

Yes, you only have to select KDE on X11 in your DM.
Are the browsers the only (untriggered by S3) issue? Are you running them as native wayland clients?

I found the problem with chromium, namely the ozone-platform-hint is "default" which is X11, switched it to auto in chrome://flags/ and it works.
Firefox - i reseted the browser, works now.
Resume still with issues, but ...

Wayland seems smother than X11 now, but still a lot of small issues everywhere. Going to stick with X11 for the moment.
