Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

Maybe this is the same issue as discussed in https://lore.kernel.org/all/20240314084 … ernel.org/?

Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

Same here with ThinkPad T14 Gen1 and Intel Corp. AX200 Bluetooth.
Therefore I have doubts that the Qualcomm related commit from v6.8-rc7 is the cause, furthermore a downgrade to linux-6.8.1 fixes this.

Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

Cross-Check
ThinkPad X13 Gen3 with Qualcomm WiFi/Bluetooth is working properly with Linux "6.8.2". Therefore this is issue is limited to Intel based Bluetooth.

Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

This doesn't affect ONLY mainline 6.8.2 kernel. The same happens with LTS 6.6 kernel. Something very terrible was merged both to mainline and LTS kernels.
linux lts 6.6.22 works fine and 6.6.23 has this bug

It also causes the whole usb system to break. Kernel no longer reacts to plugging in or unplugging devices

It affects my Dell Latitude 7490

Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

Yeah the latest stable kernel has quite some bluetooth stuff in it, grep the release for bluetooth: https://www.spinics.net/lists/stable/msg730140.html

Having bluetooth issues aswell.

kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: Reading Intel version command failed (-110)

Try linux-lts 6.6.22, it works for me.

Might go for LTS. 6.7.9 seems to be working for now.

this ****** was merged even into 6.1 LTS kernel, it's a total failure.

Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

Newest mainline kernel linux-6.8.2.arch2-1 is still having this issue. Downgrading it to 6.7.9 fixed this issue. And also linux-lts-6.6.22 also working fine. I'm using Intel AX200 from thinkpad t14s gen1 amd.
Also maybe unrelated issue, but kernel-6.8* seems broke something when shutting down/rebooting, something about failed to unmount /oldroot from initramfs. I had to manually press the power button to actually turn off my laptop. But downgrading to 6.7.9 fixed it all

Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

I am experiencing the same bluetooth and reboot/shutdown issue since I updated the kernel to  6.6.23-1. I'm using an AX210 on an amd ryzen 4000 series.

The downgrade to 6.6.22-1 (kernel+headers), which was my last kernel before updating, did not fix the bluetooth issue.

Edit: After downgrading I restarted the system. I just tried to completely shutdown and starting the system again: bluetooth works again.

Completely shutting down triggers a firmware reload for the AX on the next boot, which seems to work reliably.

They are bisecting over there: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=294310&p=2

Anything that received that patch (6.23, 6.8.2, 6.9-rc1) works on the first cold boot but may fail on subsequent soft reboots in my experience.

Re: [SOLVED}[kernel] 6.8.2 - Bluetooth kernel bug at boot

6.8.2 has been a disaster for me since my keyboard and mouse are only recognized after a couple of minutes after booting + the shutdown/reboot issue half of the time. Does anybody have a link for the kernel's bugzilla in case these bugs have been reported?

This seems to be fixed as of 6.8.3.
